Best of the lot
I inadvertently ended up with this toilet seat after trying two other models when I bought a Toto toilet. Let me explain. My first selection was a Bemis seat that I chose because of a feature that let the lid unlock so that you could remove it for easy cleaning. As soon as I installed it I realized I couldn't keep it because their shade of white was much dingier than the Toto shade of white. So I took it back to get the Toto brand seat. That proved to be problematic for unexpected reasons. First off their "ergonometric design" is initially different to the point of being uncomfortable but I suspect you'd eventually get used to it. What was the deal killer though was all the creaking noise it emitted when I would sit down on it (I'm a featherweight by the way) as well as every time I exited the seat, the lid would slap back onto the tank. This just got too annoying and I took it back. So the retailer I was using said they had a seat in the warehouse that was a sample from a company she...

Lid go up.....lid come down by self. NEAT SEAT!
I agree with the first writer about the construction. I didn't notice the overlap because I don't care. It fits in the middle and you sit on it. I have a cabinet above this toilet, and stepped up on the closed lid to get to the top shelf. I'm right at 190, and when I stepped up, I heard this POP! When I looked at it, I now have a concave shape rather than a convex one. It had no cracks in it, and nothing was broken. Says something about the durability of the material. So, why should I care? Looks about the same, just different. One word of caution about the way it closes....if you go to someone's house, and they don't have this type, your habit will cause you to do what you normally do. And the host will hear a CRASH! in the bathroom, and you will be red faced. I know I was!
Non banging toilet seat
Great toilet seat. Never worry about anyone closing toilet seat and hearing that banging noise. Lid and seat go down slowly and quietly. Thought color
would be more silver like picture but it's ok.
